Assistant Store Manager - Loudoun ReStore
Loudoun Habitat's ReStore in Purcellville is seeking a full-time Assistant Store Manger. He/she would be responsible to assist the store manager in all administrative and operational functions of the ReStore. This individual would be response for the overall management of the 23,000 sq. ft retail store.

Primary responsibilties include:

  • Customer service
  • Maintaining policies and procedures
  • Staffing/scheduling volunteers
  • Assisting in training of store personnel/volunteers
  • Supervision of operations
  • Ensure integrity of store floor presentation
  • Inventory control
  • Gross margin/loss prevention
  • Supervision of drop-off/pick-up and deliveries
  • Assist in the development of new business partnerships and marketing programs.

Qualifications include:

  • Previous experience as a Department Manager or Assistant Manager
  • 3 years supervisory or management experience
  • Knowledge of building materials a must
  • Valid drivers licence and good driving record
  • Solid planning, organization and communications skills (written and oral)
  • Self starter; capable of supervising others
  • High energy work ethic, energy and belief in the Loudoun Habitat for Humanity mission
  • Basic MS Office skills desirable
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

Compensation - $30-32K annually, health benefits

Loudoun Habitat is currently seeking a creative intern to serve as Newsletter Editor


Title:

Newsletter Editor

Position Description:       
Creative individual to initiate the compilation and maintenance of a bi-monthly LHFH Newsletter

Employment Status:      
Part-time, Unpaid

Time Commitment:       
5 Hours/week

Reports to:                   
Executive Committee/BOD President

Start Date:                    
Immediately

Location:                      
Telecommute is permissible, but willingness to coordinate communication efforts and attend any informational meetings with LHFH associates to ensure the newsletter is issued in a timely and accurate manner

Responsibilities may include:  

  • Identifying ideas which can then be developed into featured articles
  • Research LHFH news as well as articles associated with housing, housing grants, eliminating poverty, volunteer trends and other related local and county news.
  • Gather information and speak to individuals from a variety of sources to include LHFH Board of Directors and Committee Chairs, information from the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors, The Virginia Habitat office, Habitat for Humanity International and www.myhabitat.org

Requirements:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Excellent oral and writing skills
  • Knowledge of and access to Microsoft Office Suite and/or other common publishing software
  • Journalism or public relations experience a plus, but not required
  • Demonstrated ability to create, select and edit a document following good visual and graphic design principles
  • Ability to meet deadlines for design and development of newsletter

The intern will learn about Loudoun Habitat's mission of building simple, decent, affordable housing. S/he will also give voice to the organization's volunteers and members through this informative piece. Finally, this position will allow the intern to engage in a meaningful volunteer experience.
