Family Selection

The Family Selection Committee (FSC) is accountable to the Board of Directors and coordinates primarily with the Family Support, Construction and Volunteer Relation Committees.

The function of the FSC is:
To identify, locate and qualify applicants for LHFH home ownership.
To qualify those applicants by determining their need for adequate shelter and their ability to pay for that shelter in accordance with income guidelines set by the LHFH Board of Directors.

The vision of the FSC is:
To create a pool of qualified applicants willing and able to partner with LHFH.
To establish a fair screening process which will assist in determining if a person/family has the ability to afford the mortgage, if the applicant is in need of adequate shelter, and whether there is a willingness to partner with LHFH.

The performance measures utilized by the FSC include:
Insure that a historical file is maintained of all applications.
Assign a tracking document at the beginning of the process and ensure that the process proceeds in a timely manner.
Implement communication techniques to ensure those in need within the community are being reached.

The process for family application distribution and collection is to:

Publicize need for applicants.
Receive and screen all applications for completeness.
Set up file; track progress.
Maintain historical record for ten (10) years.
