Own a Home

Loudoun Habitat for Humanity is dedicated to helping hard working families in our community attain affordable homeownership. Rising housing costs in our community make homeownership out of reach for many low-income families. Homeownership provides stability for families and children, a sense of dignity and pride and improved health, safety and security. It also increases educational and job prospects and makes our neighborhoods stronger.

Through volunteer labor and donations of money and materials from local individuals and businesses, Loudoun Habitat builds new or rehabilitates existing homes. Partner families are qualified through a comprehensive application process that evaluates their need for housing, their ability to pay for a mortgage and their willingness to partner with Habitat for Humanity by providing volunteer labor.

Families who earn between 30% – 60% of the Washington Metropolitan Area Median Income (AMI) are considered for the program. The home is sold to the partner family at no profit and is financed through an affordable mortgage. The monthly mortgage payment will not exceed 30% of the family’s monthly household income.

A Hand-Up not a Hand-Out

Loudoun Habitat may be able to help realize your family’s dream of home ownership. We believe everyone deserves the chance to become a homeowner by offering families a hand-up, not a hand-out. We select partner families based on three criteria: those who have a housing need, the financial ability to pay a reasonable monthly mortgage, and the willingness to volunteer their time to work alongside volunteers to build or renovate a Habitat home. Together, we can build a place to call home.

We are pledged to the letter and spirit of U.S. policy for the achievement of equal housing opportunity throughout the nation. We encourage and support an affirmative advertising and marketing program in which there are no barriers to obtaining housing because of race, color, religion, sex, age, handicap, familial status or national origin.
