Rehabilitation of Existing Properties

In 2011, Loudoun Habitat completed three home renovations made possible through the Neighborhood Stabilization Program, under the President's Housing Recovery Act of 2008; three in conjunction with Loudoun County Government and two with Virginia Habitat for Humanity.

VeriSign in Dulles became the first of several Loudoun businesses to participate in a Team Build at our renovation site in the Oak View subdivision in Leesburg. This single family home required major renovations. beginning with a new roof and working down. House Leader Rich Feickert led the teams of volunteers working with Gia, our partner family in the rehabilitation of this home. Additional team builds included Capital One Bank, NEW Corporation, and Telos. Gia and her family are settled in their new neighborhood and enjoying a home now affordable to them.

Next was a townhouse/condominium in Sugarland Run in Sterling. Under the leadership of house lead Dan Harris deconstruction work began January 2011, removing old and damaged wall board, carpets, plumbing and old appliances. Repairs to this home included lots of exterior repairs and interior renovations throughout. The Abdellatif family of five moved into their home on June 25, the day the home was dedicated.

Nearing completion is our fifth NSP property, a smaller 2 level townhome in the Countryside community in Sterling, a quiet location which backs to a wooded area. Renovations, led by husband/wife team Mark & Marie Lenko began the second week of July. Mostly interior work will be needed to give new life to this home, which will be sold to LHFH first 'single father' partner, Addis and his teenage daughter. Completion and dedication of this home is scheduled for December 3, 2011.

Coming in early 2012, we'll tackle yet another townhome in Countryside, a 2 bedroom 3 level residence. Renovations are expected to take 4-5 months but will result in a "just like new" home for our next partner family.
