6th Annual Raise the Roof Auction & Gala

Loudoun Habitat for Humanity (LHFH) held its gala fundraising event to support ongoing efforts to build homes for those in need within the county on Saturday, March 4, 2017. This event was a combination auction, dinner, and dance held at Lansdowne Resort & Spa in Leesburg, VA. The festivities began at 6 p.m. with an open bar and the opportunity to bid on some exciting and fun auction items. Following the auction was a seated dinner, entertainment, and dancing.

This valuable fundraiser provides a critical source of funding for our building initiatives that help put deserving families in homes of their own,” stated Jim Wehr, president of the Loudoun Habitat Board of Directors. “We are grateful to all those businesses, churches and individuals who continue to support Loudoun Habitat,” further commented Wehr, “and encourage the community to come join us for a delightful and worthwhile evening.”  The event featured a live band, dancing and an auction filled with surprises.

Habitat Dedicates Home in Leesburg

This family is excited to celebrate the dedication of their new home. They are thrilled to have a home of their own where their young sons can have the freedom to run and play without having to worry about disturbing the neighbors in their apartment complex. The children will have a safe place to play as well as a swimming pool to visit, and an elementary school close by. They have worked diligently towards home ownership and we are very excited for them!

Habitat Dedicates Home in Leesburg

This new home provides independence and stability this family has been searching for.  Struggling to find affordable housing, this family had been renting an apartment outside of Loudoun County.  While their rent was affordable, the annual increases were pricing them out of their apartment.  There was also the issue of high commuting costs.

They will have a more stable life now.  Owning an affordable home provides a permanent place to plan for the future.  They can put down roots in the community where they work and their children go to school.
